Remote Learning

Welcome to the Springwell Community College remote learning page.

The information within this page is designed to provide information for students who are self-isolating, as well as their parents and/or carers.

To read our Springwell Remote Learning Statement, please click here.

Please read the scenarios below to identify your situation and how to access the work provided:

Scenario 1: You are at home self-isolating whilst the rest of your year group'bubble' are still attending college.

In this scenario, your teachers will be putting the work from your lesson on Microsoft Teams for you to access. You need to complete the work and hand it in to your teacher upon your return to college. Your teacher will ensure that the lesson is on Teams by the end of the college day. If you are waiting for work to be published, please access the additional learning for Maths, English or Science. These can be accessed by clicking the links at the bottom of this page and choosing work for your year group.

Scenario 2: You are at home self-isolating and the rest of your year group 'bubble' are also self-isolating.

In this scenario, your first lesson will be on Go4Schools. From the second lesson onwards, teachers will be delivering live lessons via Microsoft Teams. You will be sent an invite to the lesson which you can access through your school email. You need to have logged in and 'joined' the meeting by the start time of the relevant lesson. We would expect you to show the same level of behaviour and engagement in the lesson, as we would expect when you are in college.

Online lessons - the basics

  • Please ensure that your son/daughter has a quiet space to learn - no distractions!
  • Students may or may not be able to see their teacher - they may simply see the Powerpoint presentation for the lesson
  • Students will not be able to speak to their teacher - they will though, be able to ask them questions via direct messaging
  • Students will not be able to see or hear other members of the class
  • Attendance will be recorded just like in a normal lesson. If they are part of the lesson, they will be marked as present
  • Just like in a normal lesson, students will be given time to complete tasks. Please ensure your son/daughter remains focused during this time

In this scenario, your teachers will either be delivering a live lesson via Microsoft Teams, or a recorded lesson that you can also access via Microsoft Teams. You will receive an e-mail inviting you to the lesson, which can be accessed via your school e-mail, or in the posts section of Microsoft Teams, you will have been given the link to click on, to access the recorded lesson.
